According to Brisbane News protecting our children agianst Swine Flu requires a team effort.

Parents and teachers need to work together to avoid an increase in swine flu cases as children go back to school, NSW Health says. “Schools play an important role in reinforcing good hygiene practices and helping parents and children understand how to minimise the spread of infection,” Dr Chant said. “It is important parents keep their children away from school if they develop influenza-like symptoms and we ask families, friends and the wider community to work together to make this happen wherever possible.”

One big way that schools and parents can work together is by installing washable keyboards at home and around schools. These cleanable keyboards are sanitary keyboards and also heavy duty keyboard, a durable keyboard, and a waterproof keyboard. You can wipe them down with antibacterial soap. How To Protect Your Students From Swine Flu

This is latest from the Los Angeles Times:
“The summertime outbreak provides an education for school districts and universities, whose administrators are bracing for illness.”

“Hundreds of children have been sent home from summer camps across Southern California in recent weeks with flu-like symptoms, and camp counselors and directors are taking precautions to prevent the spread of the H1N1, or swine flu, virus in cabins and mess halls. But officials say the sight of children arriving at sleep-away camps armed with the anti-viral medication Tamiflu is probably just a harbinger of what awaits schools in coming weeks as students move into dormitories, and elementary and secondary students begin classes.”
It is of the utmost importance that we, as educators, do our best to protect our students. To aid in this, I am advocating our school district to purchase washable keyboards for all school computers. These are cleanable keyboards that can be wiped down regularly with antibacterial solution, preventing the spread of bacteria and germs that may harm our kids. I got this idea from a friend who had recently purchased a washable keyboard from wetkeys.com. The people at wetkeys were able to further educate me on the Swine flu pandemic.

As part of a series about Americans’ response to the H1N1 flu outbreak, the Harvard Opinion Research Program at the Harvard School of Public Health is releasing a national poll that focuses on Americans’ views and concerns about the potential for a more severe outbreak of Influenza A (H1N1) in the fall or winter.

Approximately six in ten Americans (59%) believe it is very or somewhat likely that there will be widespread cases of Influenza A (H1N1) with people getting very sick this coming fall or winter.  These results suggest Americans are likely to support public health officials in prioritizing preparations for the possibility of a serious H1N1 outbreak in the fall or winter,” said Robert J. Blendon, Professor of Health Policy and Political Analysis at the Harvard School of Public Health.

Handwashing was a major focus of public health education during the recent outbreak. The results of this survey show that these efforts helped people protect themselves,” said Blendon.

WHO Says Swine Flu Outbreak is “Inevitable”

Author: hckanaga  July 19, 2009

The latest news from the World Health Organization regarding the Swine Flu (H1N1) is troubling.

16 JULY 2009 | GENEVA — As the 2009 pandemic evolves, the data needed for risk assessment, both within affected countries and at the global level, are also changing. At this point, further spread of the pandemic, within affected countries and to new countries, is considered inevitable. This assumption is fully backed by experience. The 2009 influenza pandemic has spread internationally with unprecedented speed. In past pandemics, influenza viruses have needed more than six months to spread as widely as the new H1N1 virus has spread in less than six weeks.

As part of your arsenal against harmful germs and bacteria (like Swine Flu) , Wetkeys.com suggests a washable keyboard that is an easily maintained sanitary keyboard. You can simply clean it with antibacterial soap. Given the fact that shared keyboards are a great breeding ground for disease, the addition of this gadget to your household, office or both provides a great advantage.

Bloomberg reported that Londoners are suffering a summer wave of influenza worse than in the last winter flu season after the H1N1 virus caused the rate of illness to quadruple last week.

The World Health Organization said the pandemic virus has infected over 77,000 people in more than 90 countries, killing over 330 of them, since its discovery in Mexico and the U.S. in April

Flu typically peaks in England in January. The college’s flu surveillance network reported that last week’s rate was about four times higher than the 10-year average for summer.

Washing Keyboard

You use your keyboard all day; you wash your hands, and then use your keyboard again…where are the germs?

Many reports from the CDC, The WHO, and other news agencies suggest that washing your hands regularly and wiping your keyboards are adequate prevention measures.  However, wiping a keyboard does not eliminate all flu viruses and bacteria.  Since a keyboard and mouse are things you touch all day, a washable and sanitary keyboard and mouse are essential to staying healthy.

As you know, frequently washing your hands is important in reducing the spread of illness.  However, washed hands become completely ineffective if they return to touching the same contaminated objects, like your keyboard and mouse. Our washable keyboards can be easily cleaned in the sink just as a kitchen utensil and are an inexpensive solution to this problem.

WETKEYS offers the largest selection of washable, sanitary and easy to disinfect keyboards and computer mice.  Wash your hands AND your keyboard – and Stay Healthy!  WETKEYS products are Your Key to Good Health
